Porthluney Cove / Caerhays Beach

Porthluney Cove is a south facing sandy beach located below the impressive Caerhays Castle on the Roseland Peninsula. The beach is fairly long and a low water launch requires a long walk with the kayak. Launching provides good access to Veryan Bay and for those prepared to paddle a little further, Dodman Point. Clean ground predominates within Veryan Bay with rough ground and reefs found towards and around Dodman Point.

Parking: A large car park is located at the top of the beach with easy access onto the beach itself.

Species: Plaice, Dabs and gurnards may show to drift fished bottom baits. Bass are possible to trolled lures. Wrasse and Pollack will show over patches of rough ground and reefs around Dodman Point. Bull Huss and Conger may show if fishing at anchor around rough ground. Mackerel and Garfish in season.

Nearest Tackle Shops: City Angler at Truro, Mevagissey Shark Angling Centre at Mevagissey, Lowen-Chy Art and Angling at St Austell and Monster Tackle at St Austell
